Braskem's New Headquarters Design
Posted by Debra Breslow, NCIDQ, Project Manager
Meyer Design just completed the new 22,000 SF US headquarters for Braskem in the Mellon Bank Center in Philadelphia. Braskem produces thermoplastic resins, such as polyethylene, that are used to create toothbrushes, baby bottles, household utensils, computer parts, window/door frames, and many other items most of use in our daily living. These renderings were created by Meyer Design's very own technology whiz, Joe Bongartz.

Journey to India
Posted by Dan King AIA, Project Manager
In February, I had the pleasure of volunteering for another trip with Engineering Ministries International (EMI), this time to India. Our task was to design a multi-story facility for the headquarters of a ministry called Transformation India Movement (TIM), which is dedicated to bringing hope and a better future to the inhabitants of Northern India.
Once their building is complete they will be able to operate more efficiently and branch out to other villages more quickly. The final design was a five-story structure approximately 5,000 SF per floor, which housed a pre-school, training center, offices, guest rooms and much more. We incorporated elements from the local architecture such as balconies and overhangs.
Our mission was to design a facility that could house all of their operations in one location, improving coordination, communication within the ministry, and training opportunities. The second half of the trip was spent in Delhi, and at EMI’s India office in Mussoorie, a beautiful place in the foothills of the Himalayas. We reviewed the projects with the professionals there and made some great recommendations on how we could improve their designs. The India office will take over the project from here, and issue final Construction Documents to the ministry.
